Breast Friends Quilt.

This quilt holds significance for me at the moment, as Im sure it does for all of us.

A special lady that I have worked with for many years was diagnosed with Breast cancer only recently and that was a real shock. She is going to be fine, but as her life has been really challenging in the last few years this was probably the last thing she needed.

Also my 17 year old daughter came home the other day very distressed. One of her close friends has just been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Obviously the young women in Alex's friendship group are feeling very sad, scared and a bit bewildered.

Is it my age or is this dreadful disease effecting more and more people?

Beautiful work on the quilt. I'm not sure if these diseases are becoming more prevalent or if we are more aware of it as we get older. Hope your friend and your daughter's friend come through all the traumas positively. I lost my sister to breast cancer 9 years ago, so like so many others understand the pain of it (or any loss for that matter).

Blessings to you, Anne

Wow you are doing a fabulous job of the amazing Quilt. I am so inspired by this wonderful publication and it is great that these great designers have created it for a really worthwhile cause. I too have been following the patterns each month as they are published an have in the "to do " list. Yours looks just fantastic.
Best of wishes with your daughters friend.

My best friend was diagnosed 20 years ago at age 29 and it floored me at the time because it wasn't talked about much and I had no idea women so young were vulnerable. I'm not sure if more women are getting it now, Cathy, or if more women are speaking LOUDLY about it - thank God they are because we are better informed today than ever before.

Love your blocks, I have only made block one so far- on the drive across the Nullabor.

I think it's a concern that lurks at the back of most women's minds, whether we have a family history or not.

The quilt is going to be lovely.
